Law Abider

I have to say I’m quite the law abiding citizen. I have a squeaky clean record. Never have I gotten in trouble with the law, except one time when I was running home at night and the police flashed their lights at me and questioned me at the door, asking for my ID. I showed them my school ID (I was in about 10th grade), a little afraid they were going to take me away, but they understood and told me I should be careful about running through parking lots and backyards at night, even if it’s just mine.

I respect the rules that make up our society, the laws that govern what’s right and what’s wrong. Without laws, the world would be in chaos, would succumb to anarchy. Imagine riots like Ferguson and the ones shortly after Donald Trump’s election, but on a much larger scale.

YouTube Rewind 2016

Another year of YouTube is nearly in the books. To celebrate 2016’s greatest moments, the annual Rewind is back again and better than ever.

This is my reaction video. Enjoy!

Music is power. The app musical.ly proves to state this even more. This is likely one of the best new apps to hit the market and already has a ton of talent streaming through it.

They may say the bird is the word but that’s not the case this year.

The title says it all.

This Thanksgiving, my family is ditching the bird because of being so tired of eating turkey and feeling full afterward, not being able to eat another bite. That dry meat doesn’t exactly go down well even with gravy.

Which is why this Thanksgiving, me and the rest are going a different way:

The German Way: Ertedankfest.

There will be a couple of foods native to German culture:

German potato salad, German bratwurst (which is a redundant saying because all bratwursts are German), some Heineken beer (a German lager), sauerkraut, and pasta salad (okay, that’s not German, it’s Italian, but close enough (Italy is just underneath Germany on the map).

This is always an anticipated holiday, even if the family is slowly getting smaller (and less enthusiastic about it). Football is the centerpiece of the day, with the annual Detroit Lions Thanksgiving Day game always a national spectacle. The Lions play the Vikings this year, a rarity on this day. They largely take control of the division if they win but slip to second if they lose.

We had a pre-Thanksgiving last night that consisted of turkey, cranberry sauce, rolls, deviled eggs, and stuffing. Pretty light and easy to put away.

Happy Thanksgiving and happy holidays.

President Trump

Image result for president trump

We finally have a new President and the road to the White House is over after a long hard fought battle.

It’s Donald J. Trump.

Hillary Clinton hung in there til’ the end but I guess most of the country bought into Trump’s overall plan for world dominance and “Make America Great Again”. It is going to be quite an interesting four years under the man with the iconic hair. I never would have guessed or even dreamed that this celebrity business man and reality TV star would someday be leading the United States of America, the same guy whose catchphrase “You’re fired” became a bit of a national joke. Just a few weeks ago a mobile app came out called “Punch the Trump”, which is a bit of an insult and disrespect now. I obviously checked it out, finding it quite brutal.

No, I didn’t vote for Trump. I voted for Hillary. I didn’t want to have myself to blame if the country went to hell under the Trump administration. The many large scale riots and protests happening across the country, in cities large and small makes me firmly believe that we are in for some bad blood and unfriendliness in the future. Obama’s first day of election was virtually quiet compared to what is going on now.

#NaNoPoblano2016 Day 9

Decision 2016

It all comes down to this
The final ballot will be cast
Who will come out victorious?
Who will shine at last?
The fight has been intense
It has been memorable
Nothing short of historic
And when the smoke clears
And the name is called
The future of America hangs
In the balance
On the shoulders of one body
Brave and strong enough
To move us forward
And create the future of tomorrow
Putting dreams to work
And work into action
Promising promises that are
Anything but guarantee
But at least trying to believe
Trying to believe
That something always awaits
On the eternal sunset horizon

The Uprising

The revolt is set

The crowd is ready to rush in

Order will be torn apart

The onslaught of the inevitable sin

Grab your guns, grab your armor

It’s going to be a real dogfight

To defend our rights, uphold our honor

The uproarious hysteria filling the night

Anti-government, rise against the machine in full bloom

Not holding back, the tank turrets go BOOM!

At the end of it all, the battlefield lay strewn

Over a thousand souls exhausted, the painting of DOOM

And now the power rests in the hands of the victorious few

A wartorn flag is planted in the cold hard blue

The New Order has risen, salute and respect us now

Until the fallen have their revenge, for the kings and queens they bow

Inspired by listening to “Uprising” by Muse, which got me pumped up today, as all songs by Muse do. They are one my favorite bands of all time. I was going for a power walk today, listening to a set of my favorite songs through my headphones, when this great song came up, instantly having a powerful effect over me. I can instantly trust that I’ll like any of Muse’s songs that play on the radio or I play on YouTube, which I was doing today. The album The Resistance, which includes, “Uprising”,  won the Grammy for Best Rock Album in 2011 and I can’t argue with the selection. There’s a real sense of urgency with the these lyrics, the powerful motive to rise up and revolt against governmental control and other organizations such as Scientology.
