An historic era, while filled with its ups and downs, is finally coming to an end.
Barack Obama has just six days left in office until the torch is passed to the new guy in charge, Donald J. Trump. Then we are left wondering just what exactly will happen in the next four years with the new President and if he will be any more effective than the previous commander in chief was.
It’s been an entertaining eight years with this man, a great man no doubt, who is also remembered for a former pastime of his. A lot has changed during those long eight years, starting way back when I was in eleventh grade. Probably the biggest thing to have happened was the successful elimination of Osama bin Laden and the ending of most of the War in Iraq (a few battles still going on). The biggest flop of the eight year run was Obamacare obviously, but still will be remembered as a significant part of history for years to come.
I really feel like Barack Obama should get a statue or something, maybe get on a piece of currency. I mean, he was the first African-American president elected and helped open up new opportunities for other races to run for president. He is symbolic of just how far African-Americans have come in being accepted in this country. I know he wasn’t the greatest president and a lot of his promises were empty-handed, but there are a lot of things he can lay claim to in this era such as:
The first president to have a Twitter account and send out a tweet (can you imagine George Washington doing that?)
The first president to talk with people on YouTube.
The first president to use Instagram.
The first president to own a smartphone.
The first president to be apart of the modern Internet language today, with words such as “follow” “hashtag” “like” “share” and “retweet”.
I give my final farewell to Barack, Michelle, and the rest of the Obama family as they move on to their future lives. The United States and the world has forever been changed by their contributions to society.
It all comes down to this
The final ballot will be cast
Who will come out victorious?
Who will shine at last?
The fight has been intense
It has been memorable
Nothing short of historic
And when the smoke clears
And the name is called
The future of America hangs
In the balance
On the shoulders of one body
Brave and strong enough
To move us forward
And create the future of tomorrow
Putting dreams to work
And work into action
Promising promises that are
Anything but guarantee
But at least trying to believe
Trying to believe
That something always awaits
On the eternal sunset horizon
#NaNoPoblano2016 Day 8
And another one gone and another one gone,
another one bites the dust…
Marco Rubio has dropped out of the 2016 presidential race, leaving just more and more votes for the ever dominating and inevitable nominee Donald J. Trump.
Too bad he couldn’t even win his own home state of Florida. That went to Trump as well and was the ultimate reason Rubio bowed out after such an eager fight.
Nothing can stop the Trump train and the only thing that likely stands in his way now is Hillary Clinton (unless Bernie can mount an impressive comeback).
This has likely been one of the most exciting presidential races I’ve seen so far (my third, but most knowledgeable). Whatever the result, this will go down in history as an historical and world changing election.
If The Donald becomes President…
I will shave my head bald
Grow a massive beard
Streak naked down the hall
Shout “Hey you!” at pedestrians
Hop a moving train
Stand naked in the rain
Break a window pane
If The Donald becomes President…
I’ll move to Manitoba
Drink beer and watch Canadian football
Walk around in a toga
Shoot darts at the moon
Go dumpster diving
Jump off a bridge
Wrangle an alligator, die trying
But it can’t happen, won’t happen
Because we all have sense
Well, in this case
Donald Trump makes no sense
And then a lot of cents
But a month later…
My mind may be changing
And all I’ve said so dumb
Because I think we may have the man
To finally put them under our thumb
There’s still a year to go
And anything can change
But who else is in the running
That can speak with such a free-range
I like Trump because he’s fearless
I like Trump because he’s fun
I like Trump because he doesn’t care
I like Trump because he bows down to none
If the Donald becomes President
Watch out for World War III
Because a lot of nations are going to be upset
When he declares some people aren’t fit for the land of the free
It’s a sticky battle this time
And no one really stands out
None of them I really like
Not Bush, Biden, or Fiorina without a doubt (OK, she’s kinda hot)
And if we choose Mr. Trump
Put a price tag on us now
Because we’ll be part of his grand empire
And nothing will stand in the way of this cashcow
