I Want Candy

Candy was a flavorful trip

Exciting my sweet taste buds

But leaving an empty craving

Of no lasting memory

Blank Minds

I draw up a blank canvas

The only one that knows my shadows

Where nothing good comes out

The art has died

A sudden derailing death

I am currently filling the south wall of my bedroom with posters of all kinds. They are all 5.99 each so as you can see I’ve spent a bit of money on these, one every week or so. There is room for two more posters on this side and then I’ll likely move on to the walls adjacent to it. This mission of mine is to make the room more colorful and fun to stay in. I’m sure if I had a kid, he/she would love to sleep in this room.

The rundown of every poster so far:

  1. Star Wars: The Force Awakens (top left corner)
  2. Minions
  3. Minecraft
  4. Guardians of the Galaxy
  5. The Beatles
  6. Music
  7. Jurassic World
  8. Grumpy Cat
  9. Harley Quinn
  10. The Walking Dead
  11. Star Wars: The Force Awakens – Rey
  12. Batman

There is a longing for more art, for more fueled passion, for more wall eye candy, and it can never stop until I’m totally satisfied with the way things look. If I move out of this room, all of the posters will go with me, because I’m not spending all of that money for nothing. It’s a neat little project of mine, yes, and I’m glad I started it in the first place.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Life Imitates Art

Mona Lisa’s Smile

The best art only speaks

By its repeated spread through

Generations of faces

Constant evolution

Of mystery and awe

Mona Lisa’s wry smile

Secrets within the strokes

Hundreds of years in preservation

The first touch of brush to canvas

Moved, shook boulders around the world

da Vinci’s pièce de résistance

His self portrait hidden within

Never hidebound, always open to

The endless possibilities of an infinite universe

To stare at such magnificent work,

To envisage the Mona Lisa coming to life

Like she was for da Vinci,

Be as still and quiet while I paint

Why, that is the most powerful drug in the world

And I am drawn by what is historically significant

And the figment of the human eye of imagination

What can move people to change their lives

Search for something more than is on the surface

Visually, I love art

It inspires and thrills

And like music, can fit any mood I am in

In Response to the Daily Prompt: The Artist’s Eye

Is there a painting or sculpture you’re drawn to? What does it say to you? Describe the experience. (Or, if art doesn’t speak to you, tell us why.)

If there is another painting that I really like, it would be Nighthawks by Edward Hopper, just because it is open to so many parodies.

Ten Year Old Blank Space

My future profession has always been up in the air…this is nothing new. Those “When You Grow Up” songs from elementary school did nothing to plant an ideal image of what I wanted to be doing after high school ended way down the road, in another century. Maybe it was because I was preoccupied with other things or maybe it was the impracticality of choosing a career choice and getting your parents all excited about it while you had no clue what it even involved.

The 21st century began when I was nine years old and I would turn ten later on in the year 2001. So I guess you could say I grew up mostly in this century while my first eight years were in the 20th – I’m a 21st century kid. Most of the events I’ve witnessed firsthand and most of the new technologies have come after 2001. During that year, predictions were being made for 2010, such as having water-powered cars and humans landing on Mars, big NOs. This would be four years before the very first YouTube video would be uploaded, two years before the ill-fated Myspace, three years before Zuck invented Facebook, and at least 11 years before Instagram would become a thing. Back in 2001, I would still be watching the Disney channel and Cartoon Network, when Dexter’s Laboratory, The Powerpuff Girls, and Ed, Edd, and Eddy were still quite new. There weren’t even remote thoughts of becoming a writer and this was before the digital age exploded and made putting the virtual pen to the virtual paper so much easier.

Pinnacle at the ten
The double digit bend
Dreaming of the future
Still playing with imaginary friend
Vaguely an architect
Or carpenter to be
My mind races blankly
Blank space
Floor games and plastic bricks for me
Used to draw and be wildly imaginative
The Travelers on blue sheets
Science fiction lore
Human anatomy interest
Anything would be neat
Not for the worst
Could have been a doctor
But now I’ve become something else
A post-a-day blogger
There never was one thing set in stone
At the tender age of ten
I suppose I let the road develop in front of me
And would connect with the goal in the end

I can call myself an artist
A dreamer, and a theorist
Because I paint by bubbling image
And not one thing goes down
Unless it has a meaning and vision

Of course, I can still become a chef, a dream I had in high school. I can create a number of recipes and know what “mise en place” means.

Daily Prompt: Ballerina Fireman Astronaut Movie Star

When you were 10, what did you want to be when you grew up? What are you now? Are the two connected?

Weekly Photo: Roy G. Biv

Roy G. Biv and his seven women,
All were eccentric,
Decisions, decisions

His spicy Red, always the romantic,
Unique Orange, a bit standoffish
Optimistic Yellow, longed for the future,
Natural Green, soil lover for the rooster
Moody Blue, chronic depressant,
Indigo and Violet, quite inseparate

These were his wives he used to make his name,
And now is the most famous in the grand color scheme game

Moving Through Monochrome

My camera slipped and I caught the pool on a refreshing angle…shades of grey and blue…

…while this springy sensation looked good in black and white.

Medicine I do not take since I’m a machine running smoothly, without the need for additives

The many paper like leaves of this gigantic spring tree blow my mind…

0512 Big Spring Tree

…while the reddish hues of December tree paint a truly radiant landscape

Day 341

My mocha-colored cat relaxes…

…and wonderful notes vibrate across a musical highway

The rushing yellow waters, like threads on a loom…

…and hellfire rains down, a fiery oblivion…

…then slides into an icy blue pool, refreshing your eyes

My Own Hollywood

I’m already all four of these
Director, camera, pen, and actor
Even though I’ve never been to Hollywood, trying to get by with laughter!
My movie work has been at home, producing various YouTube videos,
Most of which have been lost on the Internet, never to reach anyone’s nose!
They range from awful bad to surprisingly good
Most of them star me, usually as exciting as bare wood
I’ve been at this for six years, started when I was seventeen
And how many times have I seen the spotlight? I couldn’t even count three!
My experience and production have taken great leaps,
I finally bought a camera and use a program that can count peaks
There’s also the editing that has taught me a lot
All the fun I’ve had, learning what to cut and what not!
My rocky road of a journey continues this year,
Starting yet another channel and hoping for great cheer
It’s a lot of hard work, I’ve greatly come to realize,
Trying to get my work in front of millions of fickle human eyes!
But that’s my own Hollywood and it’s not exactly the real thing
But it’s got my production stamps all over it, and my love, passion, and sing!
I may never go to L.A. and live the dream for real, knowing as how hard that may be,
So I’ll continue to make my name on the Internet, maybe someday make history!
I’m a producer at heart, always ringing out new ideas,
And when one fails badly, I start to wonder what the reason is
There’s usually not much input, so I’m left to figure out alone
But then the nail hits me and I realize how I must drone
It’s a very fun experience, even though the business may be rough
My creative ways of making it all work and the motivation,
Shut out the voice that says, “That should be enough!”
Hollywood may not be calling me, and that figures to be true
So I’ll continue to work on my aspiring craft,
Entertaining me and you!

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: The Show Must Go On

If you were involved in a movie, would you rather be the director, the producer, or the lead performer? (Note: you can’t be the writer!).

WPC: Foreign Orange

The color orange is an
Outstanding observation
It’s fiery shades pop a thousand
Pompous photo pixels
But sadly, this hue of sun, fire, and…orange
Has no dance partner, no rhyme or reason
At least we can count on it
Returning to the trees each autumn season
